They Can't Imprison Your Mind

Imprisonment Imprisonment2

  1. I love the flow of form and color in your abstract work. But I am trying to understand where you are going with your paintings. You did an earlier diptych that was figurative and contrasted adults and children, innocence and knowledge, impact and indifference. I would like to see you develop your each idea more thoroughly; that would lead to some stylistic consistency (to put together in a show).

  2. Hmmm, I think I was just futzing around - I've done a bunch of abstract 3Dish painting that I'll post soon.

But you are right - a lot of the images that are really sticking with me here have to do with children, in fact I have three illustrations in the making that have just to do with that. You're very good. We oughta team up.

  3. Absolutely beautiful artwork, Emily.
I just heard about what happened to you on the Free Gaza Flotilla by the Evil Murdering Pirates of Israel. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
If you would consider it I would absolutely love to buy some of your art from you, to support you in any and all ways possible. Your bravery and strength are in inspiration to me, and I want you to know that what you did, and what you lost, will never be forgotten or allowed to fade into obscurity.
These two pictures are absolutely incredible, and speak to me deeply...

  4. Can't really explain how much respect you have gained. May the Almighty bless you and speed your recovery.

  5. salam alekoum, habibi Emily, i keep you always in my hart and in my mind; i remember your courageous, determination, crasiest, lovely you. i wish you get wery well soon, all my love with you, Karine

  6. Remember they can NOT imprison anyone's mind.

To that I would add hearts, souls, spirits, etc.
I believe there is more than one kind of vision.
I hope you will get well soon from the mistreatment. You were on our front page but with no explanation. I look forward to your continued work as your perspective changes.

  7. i see a woman in both of them.

  8. Wonderful painting, Emily--and wonderful message, one I need to remember every day as a cartoonist and a human being. My mind belongs to me, and I have to feed it good stuff every day to strenghthen me against the bad ideas. Thank you!
