  1. Hi, Emily.

A very expressive piece. I LOVE the colors, and the simultaneously ideal and vulgar imagery is very thought-provoking-- it manages to be both the beckoning flower and the bent, blemished, imperfect body (ignore me if I sound pretentious or am totally missing the mark-- I draw, but I'm not much of an art person). My point is that you're an amazing artist, a very strong person and a beautiful woman. I really appreciate the art you've chosen to share with the world, and continue to do so despite the injustice you've experienced firsthand. It's only human to fear, and the fact that you continue to honor your convictions in spite of that necessary fear is something greater than human; it's something we all claim to strive for and yet often fail to understand. It's funny because when people call themselves artists, I automatically don my cynical, "bah-humbug" mask-- "Okay, so you smoke hash, have an ironic goatee/neck piercing and don't pay taxes. Fine." The instant I saw your work, though, I felt compelled to see more; what you do truly has meaning, and I can see you going on to do great things in this life. Thank you.
